Dear Reader
I recently had a realisation about self-neglect: it doesn't always look like burnout. Sometimes it looks like "good enough".
For me, it was one simple question: which part of me have I been neglecting? My first instinct was to say none, I'd made real progress. But when I looked honestly, I saw the gaps. I should be eating better, moving more. I was agitated too easily, decompressing less than I needed. And there was one practice, monthly somatic breathwork, I'd promised myself and hadn't touched since February.
None of these were dramatic, which made them easy to miss. I was running on the parts of myself I'd already mastered, while the newer, tenderer parts went unattended 🕯️
So I made one small commitment: breathwork, the first week of every month. Not because it would fix everything, but because it was what I needed.
What I didn't do?
Berate myself about it.
When we've made real progress, it's easy to fall back into self-judgment about what's still unfinished. True elegance however involves acknowledging how far you've come, without diminishing what's still left to heal.
Your action for today: name, out loud or on paper, one part of yourself that you've been quietly neglecting. Don't wonder about how to fix it. Just name it.
A refined life isn't about doing everything or having more, it's about the mindful choice to keep circling back to yourself, especially to the parts where you've gone quiet.
I built my coaching practice, 25 years ago, on this exact belief: life gets easier once it's aligned with what you value, not what you were trained to perform.
That's the philosophy that I've built "The Chosen Pace™" to hold. It's my new free Skool community for high-achieving women, 40+, redesigning their definitions of ambition & success, through wellness, burnout recovery, and intentional living.
I soft-launched it three weeks ago, and we are already #1 on Skool for Mindful Living, #5 for Women's Wellness and #8 for Burnout Recovery.
So if you're a woman who's done all the right things and still feels disconnected from herself. If you're ready for support without shrinking to receive it...
I'd love to welcome you.
