Happy New Year Reader!
Are you ready for the fiery momentum of the upcoming Year of the Horse? I know I am!
Maybe that’s why I’m typing this to you at 5 a.m. instead of being in my bed. lol. Don’t worry, I’m heading straight there after I schedule this, however It’s been a long night of caregiving, and my system is still pretty wound up. So, this is my way of unwinding in the interim. Thank you for indulging me 🙂
Today I wanted to talk about reclaiming your space from ‘overwhelm’.
A few years ago, I looked around my flat and felt… nothing. Well, that’s not quite right. I felt overwhelmed, disconnected, like I was living in someone else’s life.
My space was functional, sure. But it didn’t reflect me. It didn’t nurture me. And honestly? It was quietly draining my creative energy without me even realising it.
I wanted to feel inspired when I woke up. To feel like my home was a sanctuary, not just a place where I collapsed at the end of the day. So I tried ignoring it. Thought maybe if I just focused on work, the clutter would sort itself out. Spoiler: it didn’t.
Then I went in the opposite direction.
One weekend, I tried to deep clean EVERYTHING, Marie Kondo-style, whilst running on fumes. Burnout city. I quit halfway through and felt even worse.
Nothing seemed to work, or stick, until I started small.
One drawer. Ten minutes. No pressure.
Slowly, I released what didn’t align. I added something beautiful where the chaos used to be. A candle. A book I loved. Or I just kept the surface clear.
Slowly, my space started to breathe again. And so did I.
Our environments are often a reflection of our inner lives. When you reclaim your space, you reclaim yourself.
If you want a clearer vision for your life, clear your space first.
It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to feel like you.
Because here’s the truth: when your surroundings support you, everything else flows more easily. Your routines. Your energy. Your clarity.
If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, I’ve got something that might help.
I’ve shared some gentle, practical tips in my YouTube video: “How To Clean When Depressed: 5 Tips for Motivation & Anxiety Relief.” It’s for anyone who’s ready to shift from stuckness into flow, one small step at a time.

Reader you’re not lazy. You’re not behind. You’re just ready to come home to yourself.
Best wishes,
Sarina
